extra research into the genre drama

Drama films are frequently based around real life situations, they generally include relatable characters and narratives. The drama genre can be split off into multiple sub-genres. this includes; crime dramas, historical, horror drama, docudrama, comedy drama and melodrama.

Crime drama

A crime drama usually involves criminals and some form of law enforcement. An example of this is Legend.


Historical

A historical drama focus' on real historical events (such as world war I/II and 9/11). An example of this is Saving Private Ryan.


Docudrama

Docudramas involve specially trained actors and actresses to portray life events. An example of this is the film Jobs.


horror drama

A horror drama involves characters with realistic emotions, the horror elements work as a sub-narrative to a highly dramatic plot. An example of this is the film The Exorcist.



Melodrama

A melodrama is based around characters with heightened emotions. melodrama include the least relatable characters and storyline. An example of this is the film Wuthering Heights.
